Looney for leftovers!

After a long day, I enjoyed a healthy, heaping scoop of some leftover rhubarb grunt! Warmed up in the microwave and served with some vanilla bean custard on top, this was the perfect ending to the evening! I see preparing other fruity ‘grunts’ will be a staple in this household…

party of one…

Tonight I was stag for dinner, but no need to feel sorry for me… I made sure to sit back and take advantage of some takeout and gave myself the night off!
An obscene amount of Chinese food was appropriately delivered to my front door… in this brown bag of tricks you ask?? Pan fried dumplings, boneless spareribs, spicy Hunan chicken and a quart of house fried rice! No I did not ingest all of this, however I did put an admirable dent. To wash everything down… a nice bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. Crisp and fruity, offering the perfect balance to the Chinese food.
I have to remember this meal next time I’m on my own for dinner…

nothing to ‘wine’ about here… it’s all good!

After a long day of finalizing Halloween decorating, the only thing I could muster up the willpower to do for dinner was crack open a nice bottle of Sauvignon Blanc, sit down with some cheese [direct from Sicily], a warmed loaf of bread and call it a night.
The slightly salty and sharp bite from the cheese was a fantastic compliment to the crisp, almost fruity wine…
What a wonderful meal this turned out to be, and with absolutely no effort… just complete satisfaction!

a perfect reason for a glass of vino…

What better way to spend a Sunday afternoon than outside amongst the sun and birds relaxing by our pool with a crisp, refreshing glass of wine…
Plump, gorgeous red seedless grapes are the perfect seductive accompaniment to the zip of the light and fruity wine…
As I sit, I’m left to ponder what delightful dish should come out of the kitchen this evening… it almost feels like it should be something hearty and homey… perhaps some gorgeous, thick filet mignon accessorized with fresh greens or a puddle of yukon gold mash? Hmmm or perhaps both…
To be able to pass the hours along with not a care in the world is just what everyone should be able to do on a weekend!

platter full of flavor…

Tonight was a small plates type of night… fresh mozz, leftover broccoli rabe, medjool dates and a briny cannellini bean purée smeared thickly on a biased slice of bread!
The cannellini purée was thick and full of texture. One can of cannellini beans [rinsed] was pulsed with Greek olives, some fresh oregano and fruity olive oil… the outcome was a creamy, slightly salty spread that paired amazingly well with a beautiful bottle of Gavi! The wine cleaned off our palates and helped prepare us for bites of everything else that was on display for the pickin’s. And pickin’ was just what we did!

vino + takeout + more vino…

After a long day, I decided takeout was the best alternative. So while waiting for its arrival, what better to do than open a wonderful bottle of wine, sit back and relax. The wine was fruity and crisp, with a slight punch! One glass turned into two, which turned into three [you get the picture]… Who needed the takeout??
